Finally Warmth!

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

55…yes, 55 that is what the temperature is suppose to reach today. It’s about time! It’s March and so that means temps need to warm up.

I know we’ve had snow in March, April and May before, but after the disaster of a month February, :shudder: I can’t even say the name of the month without shivering. was for snow. I would like to forget last month ever happened. I need warmth, as I hate being cold. There is still snow on the ground here in Pittsburgh, but my yard only has a few patches which I hope will be go by next week. My yard gets a lot of sun so the snow melts fast, unlike my neighbors’ across the street whose yard still looks like a winter wonderland and an unnecessary reminder of last month.

March also is the beginning of the end of hockey season. I went to watch the Pens on Saturday, they won 6-3 over the Dallas Stars and then won again on Sunday 2-1 against the Bruins. At the moment the next game I will be seeing live at the Mellon Arena will be the last regular season home game at Mellon Arena on April 8th. That will be a sad day. That building is full of memories, but I can’t wait to see the Consol Energy Center.

Hope everyone enjoys the nice weather!

Steelers, Penguins and ugh it’s Monday

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Yes, it’s a Monday after the Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens, and yes it sucks. The Steelers have to win the remainder of their games to have a shot at a Wild Card spot. Is it bad to say I had no concerns for Dennis Dixon going into the game, but was more concerned about the defence?

Oh well, what can you do.

On Saturday I was at the Penguin game at the Mellon Arena where I got to not only see the Pens score 8 goals, but I got to witness a Sidney Crosby hat trick, on hat night and due to the location of my seats had hundreds of hats land on me which I promptly tossed over the glass. It was a fun time indeed.

Some general notes about the site. As you can see our theme is just about set. Link are being added to the side. I still can’t figure out how to change the font so I can get rid of the Comic Sans.

We’re getting there, I know there is issues in IE6, but not too concerned with it as they are minor. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please let me know.

Thanks!

Weekend, Halloween, Pumpkins

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Ah, a nice cool Monday.

Have I ever mentioned I love the fall?

Well the Steelers pulled on off yesterday and that failed 2-point conversion screwed me out of $100 in a block poll.

The Penguins split a pair of games in Sweden. They look pretty sloppy, but their whole training camp schedule was really rushed. It was only like a week. Why? If they had to start a week earlier then most why didn’t training camp?

Also why did they have to open in Sweden? Thanks for taking a home game away from us NHL! By the way, try growing the sport in North America first before zipping over seas. Watching the game on TV the people in the stands looked disinterested.

Before the Penguins game yesterday I went on the yearly pilgrimage to the pumpkin patch. Triple B Farms to be exact.

The good news is it only took us 10 minutes to solve the corn maze. Which is a record for us. It’s not that big, but we have a habit of turning ourselves around 400 times so we get trapped for an hour.

The sad news is it wasn’t worth the $7 to have everything included. I mean we did the corn maze, road the hayride to the actual field, was walk through a barn and looked at cartoon characters as pumpkins (and that use to be free) and that’s it. The field barely had any pumpkins so we left there and picked some up that were laying around that were better than any we saw in the field. I got 2 pumpkins way 20+ pounds and it cost me $16, 2 cornstalks were another $11 and a bail of hay was $6.

BTW can you tell I like Halloween?

My sister gets into it even more so than I as some of our high school friends are turning her yard into a haunted yard for Halloween. This is going to be interesting because usually we decorate her house an hour before trick or treating. And we somehow pull it off every year so far. It’s amazing what a few colored light bulbs, a black light, a strobe light and a little fog machine that I had since I was in college (don’t ask why I had one in college) can do to a house.

So there’s an update. I just started a new job at work so it’s been taking up a lot of time for blogging, but after the first week or two I should find more time to write.

Which reminds me I have to write my “Why I want to go to grad school” essay. I’ve tried writing it four times and have just erased it each time. That’s what happens when I don’t like something I keep starting over, but eventual I just have to be happy with something,

Ok that’s it for now!
