So long 2009

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

So long 2009, I bid thee farewell.

I wish I could say 2009 was a superawesomefantastico year, but I can’t, but what I can say it was pretty darn good to me.

In January I started Graduate school and now at the end of 2009 I finished Grad school in just one year and have an MBA in Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management. Now how many people have an MBA in that specialty? It was long and there were times I threw up my hands and said why did I do this, but in the end I’m glad I did and I’m the first person in my family (at least between my sister and me) that has an MBA. No I just got to figure out what to do next.

2009 was an excellent sports year in Pittsburgh. I got to see the Steelers win their 2nd Super Bowl in my lifetime and saw the Penguins when their 3rd Stanley Cup. I don’t think Pittsburghers realize how lucky they are. My dad said he never though he would see the Steelers win another Super Bowl in his lifetime after the win in Detroit in 2005, but he did and that’s coming from someone who’s only 48.

2009 at work was with it’s ups and downs. The current project I’m working on gets more frustrating everyday, but I’ll live and in 2010 I think it might be time to move on, it just feels right, but we’ll see. My second I still love, who knew I would like retail so much, but I think it’s because of the people I work with, they are just so much fun. I wish more people would come by and shop, but it’s still realzing to me and hasn’t gotten old.

2009 was also a big travel year for me. I didn’t leave the US but I flew to Florida 3 times this year and California once. I also got two knew airport credits (DFW and Santa Anna/Orange County/John Wayne) and a new hotel credit (HoJo Anahiem). I love traveling and hope to do more in 2010, I know there is a trip to Vegas scheduled for May and I hope to visit places I haven’t been to in years. On top of that list would be New York City and Toronto.

The world was odd in 2009, but in the end we survived another year and that is really what matters.

So long 2009, you were a fun year and I hope 2010 is better not just for you too!

Happy New Year Everyone!

2009…2009…2009…2009…2009

That’s what I keep thinking when I am writing dates on papers at work.

I figure if I keep saying it, I will write 2009 instead of 2008, which my hand wants to automatically write so there is all ready about 5 papers that have a ‘9’ written sloppily over an ‘8.’

A few days ago I bought myself a present, well actually two presents. As you may have read in early December a post about “Great Gift Ideas,” I wrote about the Muppet Whatnot Work shop at FAO Schwarz. Well I have good news! You can now make them on-line again.

As soon as I saw this I sent my sister a text message. She replied back “Sweet I’m making one now.” At that point I was slightly jealous as I was at work at the time and her being a teacher, was sitting at home doing nothing, stupid Christmas break.

Anyhow, she said she ordered hers and she said they are on back order until February. It does say on the website it takes 3-4 weeks, but since these are in such high demand and they are each individually made I can see why it will take longer.

When I got home I made a Muppet and then another and another…I spent about an hour and a half making different combinations. I finally narrowed it down to three choices and then I ordered two. I will eventually get the third because I really liked it, but I needed the other two for an idea that I have, so here are my Muppet Whatnots. I haven’t named them yet, but every Muppet has a name and a back story so I’ll have to figure that out and write about it when they come in.

I really hate the head thing on the second one, but it’s just a mock up so we’ll see how it actually looks when I get it and maybe I can take it off.

My parents all ready said, “How old are you again.” To which I always reply, “What you forget again?” or sometimes I go with “10 year old trapped in a 27 year old body,” to which my parent roll there eyes. Like my sister is any better she’s 28 and ordered one too. My 18 year-old cousin said they same thing, but she is 18 and full of drama and just a bitter person all together as her and my 17 year-old cousin tried to start some kind of Facebook fight with me, which they failed at.

Oh to be that young again…wait screw that I hated high school. It was just really boring and the people annoyed me. I’ll have to write about my senior year at some point as our whole class hated each other.

Anywho, if you are looking to waste some time today, head over to FAO.com and click on the Whatnot link and have fun creating your very own Muppet Whatnot.

Happy New Year Yinz Guys!

Yep, it’s here again.

 The end of another year.

2008 was a year of ups and downs. For many it was more down than up, but that’s the way life is and the only thing you can do is hope the next year it’s been better.

I feel 2008 personally broke even for me.

Let’s find out how!
